Host Terms
These terms apply to anyone who lists a space, experience or programme through Away — including landowners, venue operators, practitioners, guides and online course providers.
The relationship
You are an independent operator, not an employee or agent of Away. Away provides the platform through which guests discover and book your offerings. You are responsible for delivering the experience as described.
Listing your space or experience
- All listings must be accurate and not misleading
- Photos must be genuine representations of the space or experience
- You must disclose any material limitations (e.g. seasonal access, shared facilities)
- Away reserves the right to remove listings that do not meet quality standards
- Listings go live only after manual review and approval by the Away team
Fees and payments
- Away charges a platform fee on each booking, deducted before payout
- Current fee schedule: 15% of booking value for property stays, 20% for guided experiences
- Payouts are processed within 2 business days of guest check-in via Stripe
- You are responsible for your own tax obligations on income received
Guest welfare
- You must hold any licences, insurances or qualifications required for your offering
- For ceremony and wellbeing experiences: you must screen guests appropriately and decline bookings where there is a safety concern
- You must have a clear emergency protocol and brief guests on it
- Properties must be clean, safe and as described
Cancellations
You set your own cancellation policy within Away's three-tier framework (flexible, moderate, strict). Cancellation terms must be disclosed to guests before booking. If you cancel a confirmed booking, Away may charge a cancellation fee and temporarily suspend your listing.
Reviews and quality
Away guests may review your experience after their stay. We take quality seriously — listings with sustained low ratings will be reviewed and may be suspended. We will always discuss issues with hosts before taking action.
Away Signal integration
Hosts and guides may be asked to participate in Away's biometric signal programme — coordinating with guests on data collection during stays. Participation is voluntary but encouraged. Data belongs to guests and is never shared with hosts.
